Christian Voigt, born in Munich in 1961 studied film and photography before he entered the family publishing house.

It seemed like a stroke of fate, when in 1988, the same year that Isolde and her son Arndt both died, he discovered this great collection in his grand-mother’s attic.

Alongside his daily business as a publisher, he started grading and scanning the countless number of negatives and became more and more fascinated by the work his ancestors produced, work that he is completing now...

In this private collection three generation of photographer give an insight of life and history of the last 100 years.

Isolde Leonhard (1897-1988) born in Crossen, Germany was a publisher and passionated photographer. Most of her pictures arised during business trips and on vacation and were actually dedicated for the publishing house. Unforgettable impressions on voyages, technology, nature, family & friends are a few scopes of her images.

Her son, Arndt Voigt (1924-1988) born in Dresden, Germany continued the family´s publishing business and also shared their passion about photography and travelling of his parents. He started photographing in the late 40´s – during the years a large fund of various motives accumulated.

Christian Voigt, born in Munich in 1961 studied film and photography before he entered the publishing house. Besides archivating the countless number of negatives of his family, Christian Voigt lives the passion of his ancestors and combines history and present in this gallery.

Christo born in Grabovo, Bulgaria and Jean-Claude, born In Casablanca, French Morocco are a married couple, born on the exact same date 13. June 1935 who create environmental installation art. Their works include the wrapping of the Reichstag in Berlin and the Pont Neuf Bridge in Paris. Although their work is visually impressive and often controversial, the artists have repeatedly denied that their projects contain any deeper meaning than their immediate aesthetic. The purpose of their art, is simply to make the world a „ more beautiful place“ and to create new ways of seeing familiar landscapes.

Harry Morey Callahan

Harry Morey Callahan 1912-1999, born in Detroit, was an American photographer who is considered one of the great innovaters of modern American photography. Callahan´s work was a deeply personal response to this own life) Callahan´s work is personally orientated and many of his pictures artistically interpret his family relationships. His work experimented with representional subject matter, both City and landscapes as well as muzltiple exposures. Callahan died in Atlanta in 1999.

Robert Lebeck, born 1929 in Berlin. He studied ethnology in Zurich and New York. Robert Lebeck started as an autodidact, untrained by anyone or anything. Life taught him, how to make a good picture. In his first ten years he had risen to one of the top international photojournalists, working for various magazines such as Geo and Stern.

Lebeck takes photo-portraits of politicians and celebrities around the world. No one is posed. Nothing is arranged. What counts is capturing the right moment. „Average isn’t photographable“ is his maxim.

Wim Wenders

Wim Wenders, born in Düsseldorf, Germany in 1945 began his film career as a part of the New German Cinema in the late 1960s, making his feature directorial debut with „Summer in the City“ in 1970.

Most of Wim Wenders´ photographs are created during his personal travels and while location-scouting for his films. He has directed several highly acclaimed documentaries, most notably „ Paris, Texas“, „Buena Vista Social Club“ and „Soul of a Man“.
